Welcome to the Lung Cancer

Totem Pole

“The Spirit of Hope, Resilience,

Strength, Courage…”

The Lung Cancer “Spirit of Hope” Totem pole is a powerful symbol of recognition, celebrating and acknowledging the resilience of those who have battled lung cancer and emerged victorious. It stands as a testament that people today are living longer, healthier lives after a lung cancer diagnosis, thanks to new therapies and improved diagnostics.

Native Americans believe everyone is connected to different animals that accompany them through life, acting as guides. We invite you to visit the Lung Cancer “Spirit of Hope” Totem pole and hover over the spirit animals to read stories of inspiration and hope. By engaging with this installation, you can learn more about the progress in lung cancer treatment and the stories of those who have found strength, courage,  resilience and inspiration in their journey.

I had no risk factors. I never used tobacco products. I choose the hummingbird as I am a peer mentor for newly diagnosed survivors. I am working to increase the awareness that those who never smoked can get lung cancer.

Early detection saved my life. I choose the eagle because I believe it was a divine spirit that prompted me to see my physician.
